Consecrated by UNESCO as a cornerstone of Guadeloupe's cultural identity, gwoka (music, song and dance) owes its survival to the unfailing commitment of men and women who have preserved this ancestral tradition handed down by their elders like a precious talisman. Their tenacity has given current generations access to a veritable treasure trove of heritage. Although this practice almost disappeared, it is still very much a part of Guadeloupe's cultural landscape. Convinced by the richness of this authentic music, musicians, dancers and singers from near and far are making it their own and modernising it. Throughout the pages of this ABCDaire, you'll find the building blocks of the gwoka (the rhythms, the composition of the instrument, the semantics associated with it...), and above all those who have marked the history of this practice, and who, even today, continue to carry the torch of tradition.

Pou zòt. Kassav' - Love and Ka-dance tells an essential part of the story of Pierre-Édouard Décimus, musician, composer and creator of innovative musical concepts. The artist takes us on a journey with, among others, the orchestra Les Vikings and the group Kassav'; well-known figures from Caribbean culture and surprise guests. It's a journey peppered with anecdotes, previously unpublished facts and encounters, revealing a visionary who is both rooted in his Creole homeland and turned towards the world.
