JEAN LUC GUANEL

Some say his voice thrills the crowds, and compas fans call him the most "Haitian of Martinican singers".

In 1985 he joined a group called "Foss Not' " with Gilles and Janik VOYER, Chyco SYMEON, Maud MASS, Marc SERALINE and Pipo GERTRUDE.

Trained as a drummer, he became interested in music in the broadest sense and worked as a radio presenter.

Franck DONATIEN noticed him and asked him to join the first group TAXI-KREOL',

Between 1988 and 1989, the group staged a number of major events:

- 10th anniversary of KASSAV'en Guadeloupe ;
- Médecins du Monde" gala in Martinique;
- Fort-de-France Festival at the Forum Frantz Fanon.

From then on, it was one thing after another for Jean-Luc: - participation in Fred DESIR's album on lead vocals;

Simon JURAD, Gertrude SEININ, Jacky ALPHA, José VERSOL, etc...

In 1992, the separation from TAXI-KREOL was completely "consummated" and Jean-Luc, with Philippe JOSEPH and Anthony LOWENSKY, formed the "Groupe du Morne". For more than 4 months, they performed in a cabaret in Fort-de-France called "Le Morne".
This group gave birth to KWAK, who recorded their first album in 1993 on Hibiscus Records.

It was also during this period that Jean-Luc entered a truly professional phase, taking on the status of "Intermittent de Spectacle".

Since then, a string of albums has followed, and Jean Luc has established himself as a key figure on the West Indian music scene.
