FRED DESHAYES

Fred Deshayes, a singer-songwriter and guitarist from Guadeloupe, devotes his talent to writing music inspired by the traditional rhythms of Guadeloupe (Gwoka). His tenderness and joy, mixed with jazzy, African and Brazilian influences, create an original and lively atmosphere. His lyrics, which enjoyed immediate success with his group SOFT, describe Guadeloupean society with poetry, without concession or brutality. He performs them with his gentle voice, accompanied by acoustic instruments, and it's easy to place him in the category of committed songwriters.

His passion is music; his profession is teaching public law at the Faculté de droit et de sciences économiques de la Guadeloupe as a lecturer since defending a brilliant thesis that won the Montpellier I public law thesis prize, as well as the Prix Pierre-Henri Teigen for the best European law thesis in France (2002). Contribution to a theory of evidence before the european court of human rights.

Winner of several awards (including the Sacem prize), Fred has worked as a songwriter, composer and director with Jacob DESVARIEUX, Patrick SAINT-ELOI de KASSAV, Richard BONA, Calyspo ROSE, Mario CANONGE, Etienne CHARLES, Dominique COCO, Orlane, Eric COSAQUE, Joelle URSULL, DISSONANCE, Tanya SAINT-VAL, Perle LAMA, Arnaud DOLMEN, Sonny TROUPE and others. and has written for radio, television and film, notably with Euzhan PALCY, Antoine MAESTRATI and Michel REINNETTE, Jean-Philippe PASCAL, Dimitri ZANDRONIS...
