Gordon HENDERSON

Gordon Henderson/Exile One is a musical concept that combines Gordon Henderson's fascinating recording career with numerous worldwide successes.

It's one of the only Creole music acts to span five decades of continuous success.

Gordon Henderson, a Dominican, began his recording career in 1970 as the English-language lead singer with the then-famous group Les

VIKINGS.

Within three years, he had made a name for himself and founded his group Exile One, marking a turning point in the development of Caribbean music by being the first to

embrace a fusion of musical forms, leading to the creation of a genre called Cadence-lypso, which went on to influence forms such as Zouk.

Gordon Henderson met the creators of the famous group Kassav, Pierre-Edouard Decimus, in Les VIKINGS, and Freddy Marshall even before that.

However, Henderson was the man who landed the first major recording contract for a group from the Lesser Antilles with Barclay today in the group

Universal.

Exile One was the first band from the region to be produced and distributed not only in France but also in Germany, Japan, Colombia and Jamaica,

in the United States and beyond, leading to years of world tours across Africa and the Indian Ocean.

Guadeloupe welcomes GORDON HENDERSON for 2 exceptional shows at L'ARTCHIPEL.
