From 1983 onwards, Marie José Gibon and Catherine Laupa became Kassav's regular dancers and the first dancers to choreograph zouk music. They recruited Moise Rippon, a Guadeloupean-born modern jazz dance teacher at major venues in Paris, to be the 3rd element in the magnificent tableaux that the dancers would stage.
Les tenueThe stage costumes were designed by them and created with stylists including Patricia Procida from Guadeloupe. But Paco Rabanne, the world-famous stylist, will provide them with a stage outfit.
The first TV show on a French channel was "Champs Elysés" with Michel Drucker. It was also on this programme that the song "colé seré" with Philippe Lavil and Jocelyne Beroard was discovered for the first time and that Marie José Gibon was noticed by Mr Drucker for her resemblance to Joséphine Baker.
Marie josé GIBON has always combined dancing and singing, and it was in 1990 that she realised her potential as a singer-songwriter and began her career as a singer.She has several hits to her name, including the famous Mové tan, which has been a phenomenal success, particularly in Africa.
In 2015, Kassav called Marie José GIBON back to the group as a backing singer.
Marie José GIBON is currently pursuing both her solo career as a singer and her career with Kassav.
