"CHIKTAY THE LEGEND

The CHIKTAY group was founded in 1985 by Harry SOUNDOURAYEN and Jean ZENARRE, two brothers with a passion for music, particularly ZOUK.

CHIKTAY quickly established themselves on the West Indian music scene, releasing no fewer than 8 albums between 1985 and 1994, almost an album a year for almost 10 years. CHIKTAY became one of the most influential groups of the Zouk era in the 80s.

The essential "Allons à Rio", released in 1993, "Dilem", released in 1994, the original version of "Lapli si tol" from 1986, which was revived in 1992, "Rosalinda", released in 1989, and many more ...

From 1985 to 1987, CHIKTAY was produced by Bambou Productions, then by Akatoto before continuing with Henri Debs in the early 90s.

So Chiktay performed his songs on the English-speaking stages of the Caribbean.

The loss of JEAN in 2007 was a difficult time, leaving his lifelong friend, partner and brother Harry SOUNDOURAYEN speechless.

In 2015, a little over 7 years later, encouraged by his musician friend Didier TIAN, Harry finally agreed to put the band back together and set out to conquer the stages again, but not only that... In fact, musical love at first sight with Olivier IGNAM (the new band's pianist, who would later become his producer on the BILLANCOO MUUSIC label), gave him the opportunity to don his songwriting hat again. With "Lanmou pou vré", released in 2018, and "Tandres kréyol", released in 2019, Harry is back at it.

These two titles were welcomed with open arms by the West Indian media and the public, like a breath of fresh air, while retaining the CHIKTAY touch of old.

CHIKTAY has risen from the ashes, and the story is beautiful and still very promising.

Time goes by, generations of musicians come and go, but the objective remains the same: ZOUK first and then ZOUK!
